An unexpected painter
Welcome!
I’m really glad you’re here.
I’m Federico: a scientist by background, an analyst by profession, and a lifelong wild life enthusiast. I’m curious by nature, and usually the kind of person who overthinks the texture of a cloud or the shape of a shadow — especially these days.
I’ve never been “artistic.” I’m a chemist by training, now working in the banking industry — more spreadsheets than sketchbooks, honestly. But I’ve always been drawn to the outdoors. Hiking, climbing, and mountaineering have been a constant in my life; being outside has always felt like home.
In 2023, I decided to challenge myself and try something completely outside my comfort zone: painting. What started as an experiment turned into a total shift in how I see the world. Watercolor, with all its messiness and unpredictability, somehow clicked. Now I can’t go on a walk without mentally breaking down the light and thinking, “How would I paint that shadow?”
I’m still learning, still fumbling, and still figuring out how to mix a decent green. But painting has become more than a hobby — it’s a way of slowing down, paying attention, and appreciating the wild, quiet beauty around me.
This site is where I share that journey.
If any of my work resonates with you, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to get in touch or sign up for my (very occasional) monthly newsletter, where I share new paintings, sketchbook pages, and thoughts from the trail. No spam — just a bit of art and curiosity in your inbox.
